Yun Chang, a robotics researcher who spent a decade at MIT's SPARK Lab under Professor Luca Carlone, will speak about robot scene understanding for extreme environments — from the DARPA Subterranean Challenge to autonomy for heavy equipment at their current startup. Also on the bill: Husan Mavlonov, co-founder and CEO of Defex Robotics, with a short talk on robots for connector assembly.

Reinforcement Learning for Multimodal Locomotion

Arjun Viswanathan

Arjun Viswanathan, who works on reinforcement learning for robot behavior at Boston Dynamics, will speak about Reinforcement Learning for Multimodal Locomotion — teaching a legged-aerial robot not just how to walk, but which mode of locomotion to use at all, the topic of his MS thesis at Northeastern's Silicon Synapse Lab.
